Background:
Jason Fletcher received his Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006. During his doctoral training, he was a National Institute of Mental Health Trainee. He is currently on leave from his position as Assistant Professor in the School of Public Health at Yale University. His main research interests include examining the effects of peers and social networks on health and evaluating the impacts of poor childhood health on adult outcomes. As a Health and Society Scholar, he will expand his current expertise in health economics by making efforts to combine genetic and social science research questions and data to extend methods of causal inference and explore the intersection of biology and health policy.
He has authored research published in the Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Human Resources, British Medical Journal, and Demography, among others. He has received the Victor F. Fuchs Research Award in Health Economics and the Dorothy S. Thomas Award from the Population Association of America. He holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
