Background:
Jennie E. Brand received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. Her research focuses on the effects of and relationship between social background, educational attainment, and labor market processes / job conditions on socioeconomic attainment and health and well-being over the life course. This substantive focus accompanies a methodological focus on the application and innovation of quantitative methods for longitudinal data analysis. Brand is currently a post-doctoral scholar at the Carolina Population Center and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She will be an Assistant Professor of Sociology at UCLA beginning in 2007.
