Background:
Dr. Rebecca Thurston is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Epidemiology at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine & Graduate School of Public Health. Dr. Thurston received her PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from Duke University as a James B. Duke Fellow and was a Cohort 1 Robert Wood Health and Society Scholar at Harvard School of Public Health. Her interests concern the psychophysiological pathways linking social inequality and reproductive function to cardiovascular outcomes among women. In this research, Dr. Thurston takes an interdisciplinary approach, integrating concepts and methods from physiology, psychology, and social epidemiology. Dr. Thurston has received a Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health, a New Investigator Award from the American Federation for Aging Research, and the New Investigator and Vasomotor Research Awards from the North American Menopause Society.
