Background:
Eran Magen cares about empowerment and support. He received his MA in education and PhD in psychology from Stanford University, after working as a homeless outreach specialist in New York City and serving as an officer in the Israeli military. Eran’s research focuses on two topics: (1) Supportive interactions - how we give and receive effective, healthy, and sustainable emotional support, and (2) Temptations and self-control - why we do things that we know we are going to regret, and how to do less of them. Eran’s goal is to ensure that the acquisition of these skills (interpersonal support and self-control) becomes a part of mainstream education, in order to bolster individual, interpersonal, and societal well-being. When not writing about himself in the third person, Eran enjoys spending time with friends, playing guitar, practicing martial arts, dancing Argentine tango, hiking, drumming, and jumping over things.
