Background:

Mark Pachucki is a social scientist who investigates social determinants of health, social network dynamics, and culture. His work explores relational mechanisms by which the social world influences health through the lifecourse, especially health behaviors during adolescence. His current projects use wearable sensors to probe how peer and family relationships interact to influence risky health behaviors in youth. He is Assistant Professor of Sociology at UMass Amherst, and core faculty at the UMass Computational Social Science Institute. Prior to his appointment at UMass, Mark was on the faculties of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Mark received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Columbia University, received his MA in Sociology from Harvard University, and completed his PhD in 2010.
