Laura Wherry's research interests center on the role of government policy on the health and economic well-being of individuals in the United States. Her primary area of research focuses on the changing role of the Medicaid program and its impact on access to health care and health. Recent work examines the long-term effects of several large expansions in Medicaid program eligibility targeting low-income pregnant women and children in the 1980s and 1990s. Her work also examines more recent changes in eligibility for adults under the Medicaid program. Laura received her Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. Prior to graduate school, she worked at the Urban Institute in Washington, DC and completed her B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary.
